Celebrate 400 Years of Shakespeare at the Joliet Public Library
2016 marks 400 years since the death of famous 16th century English writer. Revered as one of the best playwrights in history, William Shakespeare’s poems and plays have been translated and performed all around the globe, so it’s no surprise that people worldwide are celebrating his work.
From September sixth to September 16, the Black Road Branch of the Joliet Public Library is hosting a celebration to honor Shakespeare. Throughout the week visitors can stop in during open hours to cast a vote on their favorite sonnet. You can also pick up many of Shakespeare’s classic works. The library is open from nine a.m. to nine p.m. Monday through Thursday, nine a.m. to five p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. to five p.m. on Sunday.
On September 17 from 11a.m. to two p.m., a special celebratory event will take place which will feature refreshments, raffles with prizes, and a special performance for all to see. This event is free, exciting for children and adults and no registration is required. Results from the favorite sonnet vote will also be announced on this date.
