St. Francis Scores First Victory of the Season

The University of St. Francis Saints made their way down to St. Louis this past weekend to face off in a game with the Missouri Baptist Spartans. In the Saints first win of the season, they finished 38-14 against their non-conference competitors.

This is not the first time St. Francis and Missouri Baptist have faced off against each other. USF played against MB last year at Joliet Memorial Stadium and won 47-5. This past Saturday’s game brought USF’s game record to 1-2 and brought Missouri Baptist’s to 0-3.

USF scored the first two touchdowns late in the first and second quarter. Lexus Jackson helped bring the score to 21-0 when he returned the punt 70 yards to the end zone by time halftime started. The only scoring that took place throughout the third quarter was a 31-yard field goal by Grayson Barnette (USF) and a 17-yard touchdown by Antoryio Barton (Spartans). Mitchell scored his second touchdown of the game in the opening minute of the final quarter rounding the score to 31-7.

Don Butkus and Adam Morrison connecter for a 15-yard touchdown bringing the score to 38-7. Missouri Baptist ended the game on a high note by scoring the last touchdown of the game at the 74-yard line bringing the ending score to 38-14.

USF will be playing on their home field this Saturday to host the Mid-States Football Association Midwest League. They will be facing Robert Morris in the first of four sequential home games.
