SUV of Teens Chases and Beats 18-Year-Old Girl
Four teenagers intentionally crashed into the car of an 18-year-old girl and attacked her Thursday night. 19-year-old Angelica Hernandez, 18-year-old Bryan Ochoa, 18-year-old Aliyah P. Mercado, and a 16-year-old juvenile were traveling in Hernandez's RAV 4 SUV when they spotted the 18-year-old victim. Ochoa and the victim has bad history and according to Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory, Ochoa was out to get the victim. The SUV full of teenagers began to chase the victim.
While being chased the victim called her stepfather to open the garage door. The victim's stepfather thought this was weird and went outside to make sure everything was okay. When the victim's stepfather walked outside he seen his stepdaughter speeding past their house while being chased by a RAV 4 SUV. The victim's stepfather jumped into his vehicle and began to follow the teens.
At the intersection of Black Hill Ridge Drive and Blue Ridge Drive the stepfather saw Hernandez ram her SUV into the side door of his stepdaughter's 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. Both Hernandez and the victim got out of their vehicles, Hernandez pulled the victim into the RAV 4, and pulled off. According to a statement made by the victim, Gregory said, "Everybody inside the vehicle began hitting and beating her."
At the 6300 Block of Black Hill Drive Hernandez slowed down and pushed the victim out of the moving car. Ochoa got out of the vehicle and was subdued by the victim's stepfather until the police came to arrest him along with the other passengers. Hernandez was charged with aggravated assault, reckless conduct,criminal damage to property, mob action, and battery. Ochoa was charged with battery, aggravated assault, mob action, and unlawful restraint. Mercado and the 16-year-old juvenile were charged with mob action and battery.
