In an act of generosity, the Tures family of Joliet have donated a St. Clare statue to Joliet Catholic Academy in honor of Sr.Loretta Tures. Loretta Tures was a teacher at St. Francis Academy from 1944 to 1952 where she taught history, math and religion. After teaching at St. Francis Academy she went on to work in the guidance office at Joliet Catholic High School from 1974 to 1990. The statue was donated by Loretta’s relatives in honor of her memory. The statue stands just to the left in the main hallway if you walk in through the front doors.

In other religious news, the Pope has asked his followers to respect gay and transgender people.

“When a person (who is gay) arrives before Jesus, Jesus certainly will not say, ‘Go away because you are homosexual.” Francis told reporters on a flight home from an international trip.

He also added that teaching gender theory is unacceptable and that it should not be taught in schools. The Pope had this to say on Gender Theory in schools,

“It is one thing for a person to have this tendency, this option, and even change sex,” he said. “But it is another thing to teach it, gender theory, in schools along these lines in order to change mentality. I call this ideological colonization.”

The Pope believes people should be accepted for who they are but gender theory should not be forced upon children in schools.
