White Oak Library District to Present Dark Fairy Tales

Take a look at the darker side of some of your favorite fairy tales and see how grim the stories really are. The White Oak Library District will be hosting “Grimm’s Grimmest – The Darker Side of Fairy Tales” where the original Brothers Grimm tales will be re-told.

Most people have heard the Brothers Grimm stories that were transformed for children by Judith Heineman and Dan Marcotte in the 21st century, who made the stories much more bright and happy. Now you can listen to the original, dark tales from the Brothers Grimm that were intended for adults and find out if it was truly “happily ever after.” The dramatic readings will be accompanied with music to set the mood and will be played on traditional instruments.

“Grimm’s Grimmest – The Darker Side of Fairy Tales” will be hosted by the White Oak Library District at the Romeoville Branch, 201 W. Normantown Road in Romeoville. The event will be located in Meeting Room A at 6:00 p.m. on Oct. 13. You are encouraged to register for this event online, but walk ins are acceptable. For any questions or concerns you can call the library at 815-552-4230.
