Wendy McMillan, a 40-year-old Joliet resident is facing charges from alleged driving under influence to resisting a police officer. A witness flagged down police near Scott and Ohio Streets and told them a 1997 green Chevrolet Blazer had gone through railroad crossing arms. According to Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory, the Joliet Police got behind the vehicle at Ruby and Bluff Streets and attempted to stop the vehicle.

The Chevy refused to stop for police and the chase began. At Broadway and Ingalls Avenue, the driver attempted to make a left turn westbound on Ingalls, but wet pavement caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The driver ended up striking a wall at 1201 North Broadway.
After crashing the driver Wendy McMillan attempted to flee westbound on Ingalls Avenue, but was shortly apprehended by a police officer.
The officer could smell the alcohol on McMillan and noticed that her speech was slurred. A 35-year-old passenger also exited the vehicle. The passenger's speech was slurred as well and could not provide any information. After being apprehended McMillan attempted to give police a false name. Joliet police found identification in the car and when confronted with the evidence McMillan gave her real name.
Due to intoxication McMillan was taken to Presence St. Joseph's Hospital where she was treated, then released into police custody. According to online court records McMillan is being charged with resisting a police officer, failure to stop for a train or signal, damage of railroad signs, four counts of improper traffic lane usage, fleeing and eluding an officer, unlawful damage to a highway, driving on a suspended license, no seat belt, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
