Christian Rapper Milton Calvin will talk Faith at the Center
Christian Rap artist Milton Calvin, 25, of Joliet will be addressing the kids of the Center in New Lenox on Oct. 27th. Calvin has always been a man of faith and is looking forward to sharing his thoughts and talents with the younger generation.
Throughout Calvin’s life, he has lived on the streets with his 6 siblings and his mother while his father was in prison. From this struggle he discovered his love for poetry and rhyme.
Eventually Calvin and his family found a way off the streets when his mother bought an apartment in Aurora when he was 11 years old and from there he found a stable place for his faith to flourish
“I guess my mom got a job or something,” Calvin told theherald-news.com. “I just remember riding on a bus and she said, ‘Do you want to see our new place?’ It was just a blessing that God gave my mom to be able to provide for us.”
At the age of 14 Calvin was introduced to Christian rap through a youth group with an Aurora Church, but even though the church helped feed his faith, it was his mother that originally introduced faith into his life.
During Calvin high school years, he continued to nurture his passion for Christian rap, rapping about God’s goodness and his life journey.
Calvin says that his rapping is much more than making Christian music, it is about praising God in his own way and thanking him for all the blessings in his life.
