Joliet Resident Gets 105 Years in Prison

A Joliet resident shot and killed a man during a 2014 drug deal. 21-year old Dimitri J. Green-Hosey and his 22-year old brother/co-defendant Jaquan Green-Hosey met with Arin Williams in the 800 block of North Lake Street in Aurora, Illinois.

On January 13, 2014 around 7:30p.m. the brothers met with Williams to buy an ounce of marijuana. The meeting turned into robbery and murder when the brothers decided to rob Williams of the drugs. Williams attempted to retreat before Dimitri shot him in the back of the head killing him. The brothers fled, throwing the gun into the Fox River to get rid of the evidence.

Dimitri was sentenced to 105 years Friday which included:

-35 years plus a mandatory 25 year enhancement

-20 years for armed robbery with mandatory 25 year enhancement

According to Illinois law Dimitri must serve the full sentence for first-degree murder and at least 85 percent of the armed robbery sentence. He has received credit for the 1,024 days he has served in Kane County jail where he has been held since his arrest.

Jaquan plead guilty February 26, 2016 to first-degree murder and was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Kane County State's Attorney Joe McMahon made this statement about the brothers, "These young men killed someone because they didn't want to pay for an ounce of marijuana. They engaged in remarkable violence and ultimately put three young lives to waste over something quite insignificant. This sentence reflects the incredible dangers of drugs and guns in our community."
