3 Victims Shot in Joliet

Monday afternoon 3 males sustained injures after shots were fired at the 200 block of North Hickory Street in Joliet, Illinois. A sergeant was on call in the area when he heard gun shots fired towards the east. Police received a call that shots were fired around 2:55 p.m.

Officers in the area found the victims and their vehicle at Jefferson and Nicholson. The 3 victims were a 15-year-old male, 21-year-old male, and a 26-year-old male, all of whom are Crest Hill residents. Witnesses made 911 calls describing the victims leaving the scene in a silver Monte Carlo and witnesses provided the license plate number for the police as well. Witnesses also told police numerous suspects ran in an apartment after the shooting and officers conducted a protective sweep to make sure there were no dead bodies or injured people. After the sweep the police applied for a search warrant and along the street police found shell casings.

The 26-year-old man suffered an eye injury and the other two victims sustained minor injuries. Police do not know if the victims were targeted or if this was a random act of violence and they are still trying to piece things together.
