Joliet Area Historical Museum to host craft beer tasting
Are you a beer connoisseur? Or do you just enjoy a nice cold brew every once in a while? The craft beer tasting at the Joliet Area Historical Museum can be enjoyed by all beer fans alike.
Sample premium handcrafted beers and ciders that have come from over 12 brewers. The featured brewers, according to the Joliet Patch, are Abita Brewery, Banging Gavel Brews, Boston Beer Company, Brickstone Brewery, Dogfish Head Brewery, Firestone Walker Brewing Co., Heineken USA, Lakefront Brewing Co., MillerCoors Brewing Co., New Holland Brewing Co., Revolution Brewing, Shipyard Brewing Co., Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., and Southern Tier Brewing Co.
Alongside the many beers and ciders you can try, you can also participate in raffles for prizes and tours of the Museum’s exhibits. Food will also be provided. There will also be a special historical presentation at 7:30 p.m. by local brew collector and historian, John Bittermann. He will be displaying his collection and present “Joliet Breweries from 1837 up to the Civil War.” This presentation will also be featuring music from guitarist John Ivan.
The craft beer tasting will take place on Thursday, November 17 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Joliet Area Historical Museum, 204 N. Ottawa St. in Joliet. It is strongly encouraged to register for this event ahead of time as spots fill very quickly. You can register on the Joliet Museum’s website or call 815-723-5201 extension 222. It is $21.00 to attend for non-members and $18.00 for members. You must be 21 years of age or older to purchase a ticket and attend the event. No tickets will be mailed out. All registered names will be marked down and guests must provide name upon arrival to check in.
