A new trend is sweeping the nation currently, the “Mannequin Challenge”, is a current online trend were a group of people pretend to be mannequins frozen in various positions. The original #Mannequin Challenge video was posted by Twitter user @pvrity___ who posted the original video on October 26th. Since then the video has garnered around 4,000 retweets and has inspired countless other copycat videos. One of the most notable people to post a #MannequinChallenge video was the Democratic candidate for President, Hilary Rodham Clinton, who posted one on the campaign trail with all of her staffers. There is no exact explanation of where the idea for the video originated from or why the song “Black Beatle” is played but there is one thing we do know. This trend was started by high schoolers who are way cooler than you or I will ever be.
