Joliet Slammers Ask For Donations
On December 3, the Joliet Slammers Minor League Baseball team will be hosting its annual holiday open house. The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to noon in the Hall of Fame Room located at Silver Cross Field.
Special sales on merchandise and 2017 ticket plans start at 9 a.m. according to the Joliet Slammers’ press release. Complimentary refreshments and snacks will be available. This family friendly event will have “Santa Spikes” available for festive pictures and children will be able to make holiday cards for soldiers overseas.
The Slammers encourage anyone that is attending to donate a toy to the Boys and Girls Club of Joliet. The Slammers will have a drop box for donations.
The Joliet team presented by ATI Physical Therapy also teamed up with Operation Care Package to host a holiday care package drive for soldiers overseas. The Operation Care Package drive will be accepting donations at the Slammers’ Box Office, 1 Mayor Art Schultz Drive in Joliet, until December 9 to ensure care packages arrive promptly. According to the Joliet Slammers’ press release the items needed for donation include:
Monetary donations for postage costs
Protein items (peanut butter, granola bars, jerky)
Christmas wrapping paper
Stocking stuffers (gum, trail mix, fruit snacks, individual drink mixes)
Card games/handheld games
New books/sports items
Toothbrush/tooth paste
Body wash/shampoo
Coffee/snacks
Anyone that donates a toy to the Boys and Girls Club of Joliet or donates anything to Operation Care Package will be entered to win a Luxury Suite night for the upcoming season.
The Joliet Slammers’ 2017 season will start May 12th.
