Children and families celebrate 'Grand' person's day
On September 30th, children from around the Joliet and Plainfield area had the opportunity to celebrate ‘Grand’ person’s day at St. Mary Immaculate parish school. There were approximately 500 children in attendance with their ‘grand’ person which included children’s grandparents, aunties and uncles or just family friends.
The day started with a mass in the chapel in honor of the children’s family members and afterwards the families were invited to come to the classrooms. This is a great opportunity for extended family members and/or friends to have an opportunity to visit and learn about the school there grand children go to. After the classroom visits, the families met in the gym for refreshments sponsored by SMI home and School association where the first grader held a presentation.
