The Best Sledding Spots in the Will County Area

The recent snowfall in Will County is a chilly reminder that winter is just around the corner. Though it is frosty, that doesn’t mean you have to remain indoors and avoid the cold to have fun. When there is plenty of snowfall, you can partake in one of the best winter activities: sledding! The Will County area has multiple great spots for sledding so you don’t need to travel far to have some fun.

Standing at 40 feet tall, the Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve has one of the best sledding hills in the area. The hill is located at 32736 S Butcher Ln. in Wilmington. Near the hill, you can rent innertubes for just two dollars. You can also bring your own sled, but steel runners, snowboards and steerables are not allowed. Guests must be 18 or over to rent an innertube and have a valid ID to present. For any questions or concerns, you can call Goodenow Grove Nature Preserve at 708-946-2216.

Cene’s Four Seasons Park in Shorewood is another hot spot for sledding. The hill is 30 feet tall and is open for sledding anytime snow is on the ground from sunrise to sunset. The park is also close to 60-acres, so besides sledding, there is plenty of room to build a snowman or have some snowball fights. Cene’s Four Seasons Park is located at 25450 W. Seil Road in Shorewood. For any questions or concerns, you can call Shorewood Parks and Recreation at 815-741-7710.

Lockport’s Dellwood Park features another great hill for sledding, located at IL-171 & Woods Dr. The hill is nearly 100 feet tall is surrounded by the park’s scenic woods. The park also features another hill that is a bit smaller and less steep to provide little ones a safer sledding experience. For any questions or concerns, you can contact the Lockport Park District at 815-838-1183.

Avoid the cabin fever and get some fresh air this winter!
