Shorewood teen The Next Big Thing

When you think of Joliet Catholic Academy, you think of the rich tradition that their sports programs old. Numerous state titles in football, baseball, girls basketball, and girls volleyball. For Lindsey Kent, music trumps those accolades. Kent, a senior at JCA has a promising music career a head of her that only started a few years back.

“I discovered my love for music a few years ago when I joined the School of Rock in Naperville” said Kent. Fast forward to 2017, where she has turned something that she loves, into a reality. Just this past year, Kent has opened up for Drake Bell, best known for his work on Nickelodeon’s “Drake and Josh”. Recently, she has played at the Taste of Joliet and Shorewood Fest. “Living in Shorewood and playing at Shorewood Fest was a really fun experience. Being able to sing in my hometown in front of people that I know was a dream come true.”

During high school, Lindsey began working with Sound Summit, where she began to records her own music. Kent has released a three song album that she says “people can relate with”. She describes that her favorite types of music are pop and rock, so you will be sure to find a crossover between the two in her album.

For the last eight months, Kent has been working with the band “The Millennials”. Just this summer alone, the band has played over 40 shows and will continue to play more when they play September 3rd at Schaumburg Septemberfest.

For Kent, she says that “recording her own music has brought what she has written in her journal to life, rather than playing other musicians songs, she plays her own where she has a connection to work.
