According to the “Chicago Tribune,” 19-year-old Kenneka Jenkins was found dead in a freezer in a vacant area of the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare Hotel & Conference Center.

Kenneka Jenkin’s mother, Tereasa Martin, stated that she last saw Kenneka around 11:30 p.m. Friday night. Martin stated that her daughter left their house on the 2100 block of West Warren Boulevard to go to a party.

Jenkin’s body was not discovered until 24 hours later. Her family repeatedly contacted the police and the hotel. The family even began knocking on doors until police stopped them. According to the medical examiner’s office, Kenneka Jenkins was pronounced dead on the scene at 12:48 a.m. on Sunday.

Jenkins' mother said police told her that her daughter seemingly let herself into the freezer while intoxicated and died inside. An autopsy failed to determine a cause of death, and according to the “Chicago Tribune,” the medical examiner's office said it was awaiting toxicology tests and further investigation by police.

According to Gary Mack, the spokesman for Rosemont, police are investigating a Facebook live video that features Jenkins in a hotel room the night of her death. The video has over 3 million views and has gone viral since the news of Jenkin’s passing. According to Mack, police have identified most of the people in the video.

“Yes, they’ve looked at it and continue to look at it and all the other social media videos and posts,” Mack said in an interview with the Tribune on Monday. “They are leaving no stone unturned as far as trying to corral everyone they can and talk to them and interview them about what happened and what was going on that night.”

A lot of questions remain unanswered in the case. At this point the cause of death is under investigation and it is still unclear how Jenkins was found and who discovered her body.
