Chicago Experiences 6th Consecutive 90 Degree Day on Record

The heat felt in Chicago recently has not only been unusual, but record-breaking for this time of the year. Despite the first day of fall being on the 22nd, record high temperature has been felt all across Chicago-land.
Here are the records broke within the past six days, provided by NBC Chicago:
Wednesday: High of 92 degrees; broke record of 91 degrees set in 1931
Thursday: High of 94 degrees, broke record of 92 set in 1970
Friday: High of 94 degrees again broke a record of 92 set in 1956
Saturday: 95-degree high breaks record of 91 degrees set in 1937
Sunday: 93-degree high breaks 1891 record of 91 degrees
Monday: 92-degree high at O'Hare Airport breaks record of 90 degrees set in 1933

The National Weather Service issued a statement today saying, "This is the latest stretch of six consecutive 90-degree days on record in Chicago. There has never been a heat wave of this duration and magnitude this late in the season in Chicago." This record breaking heat started this past Wednesday with 92 degree weather. Our "fall" thus far has been warmer than this years summer. A drop in temperature is expected for this upcoming Wednesday, with a high expected of 74 degrees. It has also been stated by the "Chicago Tribune" that Monday was declared an air pollution action day, with the Illinois EPA declaring ozone levels expected to be unhealthy for those sensitive to pollution levels and those with lung diseases.
