According to police, Joliet Township High School’s curriculum director, Alberto Filipponi, spent last weekend in jail after committing another DUI offense.

The 39-year-old Minooka resident was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with a felony offense of aggravated DUI-3rd as well as two misdemeanor offenses of DUI and speeding more than 35 mph over the posted limit. State Police Sgt. Scott Angus said Filipponi refused to submit to Breathalyzer testing, and he was allegedly reluctant to exit his vehicle.

Police logs show that Filipponi spent more than 24 hours in the downtown Joliet detention facility after the arrest and was released on bail Monday afternoon. His bail was set at $10,000. He paid $1,000 or 10% of the bail to be discharged.

According to Joliet Township’s public salary data, Filipponi earns over six figures a year with good benefits and extended vacation time. It has yet to be confirmed if the district’s administration will take action on the issue.

This is Filipponi’s second offense of drunken driving in four years. He was first arrested in 2013. He pleaded guilty to those charges in 2014, receiving $1,250 in fines. He was also ordered to complete 240 hours of community service and to attend alcohol treatment counseling.
