Forest Preserve District of Will County Prepares Parks for Winter
Will County is in the middle of the fall season and temperatures are beginning to drop. To accommodate to the falling temperatures, the Forest Preserve District of Will County is going to start taking action on November 1. Some of the changes will be turning off the water fountains and hand pumps located throughout the different preserves. These fountains are expected to be turned on again on April 1.
Another measure being taken for the cold weather is the closing of boat launches, which includes rowboat, pedal boat, and trolling motors. Trolling motors are electric motors that propel a boat, typically used when fishing. These activities will also close on November 1 and reopen on April 1.
The visitor center and concessions at the Monee Reservoir will be completely closed by January 15. They will not reopen until February 28. Some of the opportunities the Monee Reservoir Visitor Center offers, according to the Forest Preserve District of Will County's website, is:
Public Programs
Youth Group Programs
Concessions
Equipment Rentals
Facility Rentals
Annual Musher Mania
Annual Fishing Derbies
Free District Publications and Trail Maps
