Joliet Resident Sues Jewel Osco
Joliet resident Dean Thompson is suing Jewel Osco for $100,000. Thompson apparently slipped and fell in the Jewel on North Larkin Avenue while employees were cleaning the floor back in June. There was allegedly no sign to let customers know that the floor was wet.
Thompson hired Plainfield personal injury lawyer John Schrock to take the case. According to the Joliet Patch, “Schrock filed a civil suit this week at the Will County Courthouse accusing Jewel and The Matworks Company of negligence.”
Schrock's lawsuit states that "Matworks owed a duty of care to customers of the Jewel Store to not to create any hazards to customers of the Jewel Store and to warn customers of the fact that floor cleaning operations were being conducted."
The Lawsuit says that Thompson was shopping at Jewel Osco at 6:15a.m. on June 15, 2017. The employees were cleaning the floors with a machine that utilizes water. The “employees using the cleaning machine left a puddle of water in a shopping aisle used by Jewel customers," the lawsuit notes.
Apparently, Thompson slipped on the puddle and fell to the ground. According to the Joliet Patch, “the Joliet man ‘as a result of the slip and fall ... sustained injuries of a personal injury.’"
Thompson's lawsuit is does not contain any specifics or details surrounding the Thompson’s apparent injuries. For example, the Joliet Patch says that “the lawsuit against Jewel makes no mention of Thompson being hospitalized.”
