Two people arrested for armed robberies at Pizza Hut and Papa Saverio’s in Joliet

Jessica Stoppenbach and Uriah Bowie are accused of robbing two Jefferson Street pizza restaurants over the weekend.

According to Joliet police, 36-year-old Jessica Stoppenbach walked into Papa Saverio’s Pizzeria on West Jefferson Street Friday night and pointed a gun at one of the employees, demanding money. Police said she had 46-year-old Uriah Bowie along as her accomplice.

The robbery happened at about 5:30 p.m. No one was hurt in the incident but the robbers got away with around $200.

On Saturday night, Stoppenbach and Bowie targeted the Pizza Hut on the 1100 block of West Jefferson Street. Again, they pulled a handgun on the employees and stole around $200, according to police. Later Saturday night, Joliet police obtained video surveillance cameras that provided good detailed descriptions of the two armed robbery suspects from both pizza restaurant stickups. The police then found Stoppenbach and Bowie at Fenton's Motel, in the 2300 block of Jefferson Street and arrested them, deputy chief of police Al Roechner told Joliet Patch.

Bowie and Stoppenbach are both being charged with armed robbery and unlawful possession of controlled substances. They could face more charges as well.
