Illinois State Police have made a local arrest in a case involving child pornography. According to the Joliet Patch, the Illinois State Police issued a press bulletin Thursday announcing the arrest of 22-year-old east side resident Amir Dixon on child pornography charges. State Police said the criminal investigation resulted from a cyber tip.
Police investigated the suspect’s home around 7:45 a.m. and agents located a cell phone revealing multiple photos and videos of child pornography, according to the press release. The Joliet Patch reported that The Illinois State Police didn't mention where the raid occurred, however, Will County Jail records indicate that Dixon resided in the unit block of Richards Street.
Illinois State Police announced that felony charges of possession of child pornography were filed against Dixon and “additional charges may be pending following a complete forensic analysis,” Illinois State Police announced.
In somewhat related news, a federal judge has sentenced a Bolingbrook man to 19 years in prison Thursday after he plead guilty last year to producing child pornography and sex trafficking of a minor, according to the Herald News. Ronald Gobenciong, 46, engaged in sexual activities with a 17-year-old boy and coerced him into producing sexually explicit images of himself, according to the Northern District of Illinois branch of the U.S Attorney’s Office.
According to the Herald News, Gobenciong reportedly posed on social media as three separate individuals – an escort, an escort’s manager, and a client – to get the boy to produce the pornographic images. In February 2017, Gobenciong engaged in sex acts with the boy at a suburban hotel, after which he gave the boy money. Gobenciong later threatened to distribute the pornographic images to the boy’s father unless the boy continued to have sex with him, according to the release.
As part of online and text communications with the boys, Gobenciong requested and received pornographic photos and videos of them. Gobenciong knew the victims were under 18 at the time, according to the release. Gobeciog, also known as “David Marco,” “Steve John,” and “Joe,” was sentenced to 19 years by U.S District Judge Manish S. Shah in federal court on Thursday in Chicago.
