Joliet, IL-A 33-year-old man was arrested and had charges pressed after he struck his pregnant ex-girlfriend in the head with a Wi-FI box before hitting her head against a wall, according to Joliet Police.
According to the Herald News, Joliet police, who investigated the incident, initially were unable to find Jorge A. Bonilla, 33, of Joliet. On Wednesday, Will County Sheriff’s deputies took him into custody on a warrant for his arrest.
At about 4:45 p.m. March 26, officers went to the zero to 100 block of Margaret Street in Joliet after receiving a report of a domestic abuse incident, Joliet police Sergeant Christopher Botzum said. The officers investigated the incident and they determined Bonilla became upset with his pregnant ex-girlfriend after he had dropped off their other children with her.
According to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, domestic violence is defined as a pattern of behaviors used by one partner to maintain power and control over another partner in an intimate relationship.
According to the Herald News, Bonilla struck her in the head with a Wi-Fi box, according to a criminal complaint filed against him. He then hit her head against a wall, Botzum said. Bonilla was taken to the Will County jail and charged with aggravated battery to a pregnant woman and domestic battery.
The warrant for his arrest carried a $20,000 bond and was signed by Will Co
unty Judge Amy Bertani-Tomczak. After three hours in jail, Bonilla posted 10 percent of his bond and was released, according to the county jail log.
According to the Herald News, in 2017, Bonilla’s ex-girlfriend filed a protective order against him. She accused him in the protective order of punching her in the face and giving her a black eye. “I am afraid of Jorge. He has been physically abusive to me over the years in front of the children. I fear for my safety,” she said in the protective order.
